Description

Axolotls are salamanders, but unlike other salamanders, they keep their juvenile characteristics into adulthood. They remain aquatic for their entire life and while they do develop lungs, they use frilly external gills to breath underwater.

Wild axolotls are dark colored, but can shift their hue a few shades for camouflage. Domestic Axolotls have been bred for a number of different colors. Axolotls do not heal by scarring, but by tissue regeneration. They have an ability to regrow many parts of their body including limbs, lungs, heart, spine, and parts of their brain.
